The International Olympic Academy (IA), established in 1961, is the main educational and cultural institution of the International Olympic Committee. It organizes numerous academic activities annually and promotes the Olympic spirit through research and education.

The Institute of Economic Education (INEV), is a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to improving economics education and financial literacy. Its goal is to identify and support young talents in economics and finance.

about the international economics olympiad

The International Economics Olympiad (IEO), was organized by the International Olympic Academy (1OA) and established in 2016 by the Institute of Economic Education (INEV). It quickly emerged as one of the Czech Republic’s most prestigious school competitions. Expanding rapidly, it now engages about 350,000 students globally, transcending its national roots to embrace an international audience.
The Economics Olympiad was led by Vernon L. Smith, an American economist and the winner of the Nobel Prize in Economics in 2002 served as the chairperson of the academic committee. And it garners support both nationally and internationally from esteemed entities like the Ministries of Education, Greece Central Banks, Academic Institutions. The annual global finals are held at the birthplace of the Olympics – Olympia, Greece. The International Economics Olympiad has experienced remarkable growth since its inception, soaring from an initial 4,000 participants in 2017 to nearly 150,000 by 2024, making it the most influential and fastest-growing global academic event.
