students to continue studying the biosciences beyond school
The Royal Society of Biology (RSB) is located in the heart of London, and has over 16,000 members, including leading scientists and researchers in biological sciences, in addition to more than 100 bioscience member organizations. The UK Biology Competitions (UKBC), organized by the RSB, include the Intermediate Biology Olympiad (IBO), which assesses students’ knowledge of biology while encouraging them to pursue further studies in the subject after graduation. Participants will gain a competitive advantage when applying for science-related majors at prestigious universities.
The Intermediate Biology Olympiad tests students’ biology knowledge, and meanwhile, encourages them to continue studying the bio-sciences beyond school. Participants will obtain edge advantages when applying science majors in top universities.

Global awards:
For judging the global awards, British competitors will be firstly ranked by their overall scores, creating boundaries for the gold, silver, bronze, high commended and commended awards. Competitors from other countries are not ranked together with their British competitors, but are compared by the boundaries. Chinese competitors with good results will therefore have an increased chance of receiving an award.
In 2025, for the first time, the UKBC and ASEEDER will introduce this globally top-level academic IBO Camp to China. This camp will be led by Dr. Treharne, the head coach of the British Biology Olympiad National Team, who will personally lead the British coaching team to China for teaching.
This camp is only open to Chinese award students in the IBO. The camp will adopt the same academic content and teaching methods as the local camps in the UK, guiding students to explore biology deeply, learn biological research methods through practical experiments, and provide advanced guidance for potential future biologists.
After each lecture, students will participate in relevant biological experiments and verify conclusions through methods such as conducting experiments, obserring phenomena, and analyzing data.
Includes the exam, grading, proctor fee, past-papers, certificates.
