Introduction

The Chemical Institute of Canada (CIC) is one of the world’s leading authoritative chemical academic institutions. It consists of three chemical organizations: the Canadian Chemical Society, the Canadian Chemical Engineering Association, and the Canadian Biochemical Association. The purpose of CIC is to use chemistry to create a modern and beautiful life, with a focus on the role of chemistry in promoting environmental protection, health and economic development. CIC is the organizer of the Canadian Chemistry Contest (CCC) and the Canadian Chemistry Olympiad (CCO) which aims to promote interest in chemistry amongst high school students.

The Canadian Chemistry Contest (CCC) fosters an appreciation of chemistry as a career for talented young people and promotes national excellence in chemistry at the high school/ cégep level.

The Canadian Chemistry Olympiad (CCO) is an annual event that aims to promote interest in chemistry among high school students. Participation in the Canadian National Olympiad Finals or an International Olympiad is a tremendous experience and a unique opportunity to travel and meet fellow students from around the world who have similar interests.

The Junior Canadian Chemistry Olympiad (JCCO) is a Junior Canadian Chemistry Olympiad contest. It is one of the most well-known competitions for middle students hosted by Chemical Institute of Canada (CIC). It aims to promote interest in chemistry among students grade 8-11.

The International Chemistry Quiz (ICQ) is organized by the Royal Australian Chemical Institute. It provides a major focus on the relevance of chemistry in an exciting and stimulating way, helping to develop their abilities in information extraction, observation, and problem-solving. ICQ has garnered widespread recognition from teachers and students worldwide. Students will only be competing with other students from their country or state, in the same year level. Six divisions suits for students in grades 7-12.

Introduction

Founded in 1996, UKMT operates as a registered charity, dedicated to advancing young people’s education in mathematics. The UKMT offer their main Junior,  Intermediate and Senior Maths challenges and are seen as the UK’s most popular school maths competitions. Through a diverse range of national-level competitions and activities, UKMT engages students aged 11 to 18 in the UK. Every year over 700,000 students across the world take part in The UKMT challenges.

The aim of these challenges is to encourage mathematical reasoning, precision of thought, and fluency in using basic mathematical techniques to solve interesting problems. The problems are designed to make students think. These challenges are highly regarded by top universities like Cambridge and Oxford, and bulk up the application for those top universities.

Recommended by Regional Coordinators and Chemistry Teachers
"In the Quiz, our students can experience that the things they learn at school can be applied outside regular school lessons, even in an international framework. It is cool to know that somewhere in the world, such as Australia or Malaysia, other students are working on the same questions."
