BC Camp 2026: A Journey of Discovery, Experimentation, and International Biology Learning on the Global Stage
BC Advanced Challenge and Experiment Camp 2026 (BC Camp 2026) brought together passionate young biology students from different countries for an immersive academic experience in Qingdao, China, combining scientific learning, hands-on exploration and international exchange.
This camp is an international academic programme for outstanding students from the Biology Challenge (BC), organized by the UK Biology Competitions (UKBC) and officially supported by the Royal Society of Biology (RSB). The programme is led by Dr. Andrew Treharne, Chair of the British Biology Olympiad (BBO) and former Head Coach of the UK Biology Team.
Throughout the camp, students participated in a diverse range of academic and practical activities. From the Individual Challenge to laboratory sessions, participants were encouraged to apply their Biology knowledge through observation, experimentation and scientific problem-solving.
Hands-on activities formed an important part of the programme, giving students opportunities to explore Biology through laboratory experiments and develop practical scientific skills. Beyond the lab, Poster Research and the Biology Carnival created an engaging environment for students to communicate their ideas, collaborate with peers and share their enthusiasm for Biology.
More than an academic programme, BC Camp 2026 provided a valuable opportunity for young Biology enthusiasts to connect with international peers, exchange ideas and experience learning in a global environment. Through academic challenges, practical exploration and meaningful interactions, students were encouraged to look at Biology from new perspectives while building confidence as young scientists.
