BPhO Asia Camp 2026: Exploring Physics Through Experimentation, Computation and Global Exchange

The BPhO Asia Camp 2026 brings together talented young physics students from across the region for an immersive academic experience in Beijing, combining advanced learning, practical exploration and international exchange.

The camp is organized by the British Physics Olympiad (BPhO), a UK non-profit educational organization established in 1979 to promote students’ interest in physics and develop scientific thinking. Since 1983, BPhO has also been responsible for selecting the UK team for the International Physics Olympiad (IPhO).

Throughout the camp, students have explored physics through a diverse range of academic and practical activities. Challenges such as Cantilever Competition, Estimations, Mechanics Problems and Observational Circus encouraged participants to apply physics concepts through experimentation, observation and creative problem-solving.

The programme also introduced students to the connection between physics, mathematics and technology. Through STEAM Lab, Jupyter Check, Python and Computational Challenge, students developed their analytical and computational thinking while exploring how technology can support scientific investigation. Activities such as Maths for Moore and Moore Fringes further encouraged them to connect mathematical reasoning with physical phenomena.

Beyond academic learning, sessions such as University Entry offered insights into future pathways in physics and related fields, while Puzzles and Surprises challenged students to approach unfamiliar problems with logic, creativity and flexibility.

More than a summer academic programme, BPhO Asia Camp 2026 provides a space for young scientists to learn, experiment, collaborate and exchange ideas with peers from different countries—nurturing both their passion for physics and their confidence to explore the wider world of science.
